Applying for Unemployment Benefits

If your work has been affected by COVID-19, you can apply for Unemployment Insurance. This process and these benefits are the same as applying for benefits if you lose your job through no fault of your own. Please review the instructions below.

If you need assistance applying for benefits, claims representatives are available at 1-866-831-1724 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

If you have recently lost your job through no fault of your own, you may be eligible to receive Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits. Follow the links below to learn about the claims process including how to apply for benefits, how to register for work and how to do the required work searches.

WRCOG Office Closure Notice

In light of the recent coronavirus outbreak and its related public health concerns, Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments’ main office in Georgetown at 1230 Highmarket Street will close to the public effective immediately until further notice. WRCOG staff will still continue serving the public via phone and online.

WRCOG’s main number, 843-546-8502, will be answered as normal from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and all staff will remain accessible as usual.  Staff will also be available via email.
