Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) Assistance Applications Now Available

Incumbent Worker Training Assistance
The Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments announces the availability of Incumbent Worker Training Assistance (IWT) under provisions of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. The purpose of this IWT Program is to assist employers in training currently employed workers in an effort to keep businesses and workers competitive. Private Sector South Carolina Employers located in the counties of Williamsburg, Georgetown and Horry in need of training for incumbent workers due to expansion and changing skill requirements caused by new technology, retooling, new product lines, and new organizational restructuring may be eligible for IWT assistance. Interested employers must forward their request for IWT assistance to Ayla Hemeon, Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, REFERENCE: IWT PROGRAM, 1230 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC 29440, by October 14, 2016.

Medicare 101 Workshop – September 22, 2016

Waccamaw Neck Branch Library-September 22, 2016 — Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments’ SHIP (State Health Insurance Program) will hold a Medicare 101 class on September 22, 2016 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Waccamaw Neck Branch Library, 41 St Paul Place, Pawleys Island, SC 29585.

The class is an introduction to Medicare including what the various parts cover, when to enroll, who pays what costs, and other common questions.  Highly recommended for anyone entering the Medicare system within the next year, but all are welcome.

Admission is free but due to limited space, registration is required.  Attendees are asked to bring their copy of the “Medicare and You” 2016 Handbook for reference during the presentation (limited copies will be available if you do not have a copy).

Medicare Workshop for Prescription Durg Plans (Part D)

Myrtle Beach S.C. September 28, 2016 – Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments’ SHIP (State Health Insurance Program) will hold a Medicare Open Enrollment Workshops for Prescription Drug Plans at Socastee Library, 141 707- Connector Road, Myrtle SC 29588.

The workshop is an overview of Medicare coverage under Parts B, C, and D, followed by a hands-on workshop for choosing a drug plan tailored to your specific needs.  Open enrollment is from October 15-December 7.  With over 35 drug plans offered in South Carolina, this annual review should be an essential part of financial planning for all Medicare participants.

Workshop dates are September 28, October 19, October 26, November 2, 9, 23, 30

Admission is free but due to limited space, registration is required.  Attendees are also required to bring a complete list of their prescription medications, including legible name, dosage and frequency.  PLEASE NOTE that prescription drugs or their containers will not be allowed in the library for this training.
