Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments is an agency that offers regional programming and governmental services in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties of northeastern South Carolina. Created by the state legislature in the late 1960’s, its mission is to support local governments in the region and develop effective partnerships that foster efficient transportation systems, economic and workforce development and allow the region’s seniors to age in place.

(July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020)

RFP RELEASE DATE: February 26, 2019 by 5 PM EST

PROPOSAL SUBMITTAL DEADLINE: March 28, 2019 at 12 PM EST

PURPOSE: The Local Workforce Development Area (LWDA) comprised of Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties is requesting Proposals for Title I Youth Services as authorized under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (hereafter “WIOA”) of 2014.

We invite the submission of Proposals in accordance with requirements contained in the following solicitation. Because the Contracts that may result from this solicitation are funded through a combination of Federal, State and Local funding sources, uncertainty exists with respect to what level of funds may be made available to Proposers.

The proposal MUST be received by the Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments by Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 12 PM EST. Any proposal received after the deadline will be deemed non-responsive.

Myrtle Beach, SC (February 20, 2019) – P2P South Carolina is an interactive, hands-on career expo designed to help 8th graders and young adults, link their passions to a paycheck. Each individual spends two hours exploring the pathways, along with the educators and chaperones where professionals from 19 career pathways engage the students with hands-on activities in their various fields, while also sharing what life is like in their jobs and the training and education that’s required.

“P2P is unlike anything we’ve ever done in South Carolina, it’s like a job fair on steroids! This event will inspire young adults from throughout the Pee Dee region and hopefully spark their interest in starting the career of their dreams!”-Sarah Smith, Executive Director, Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments.

P2P initially debuted in Biloxi, Mississippi in November 2013 and this year will be held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center on February 20 & 21, 2019. We expect to host 7,000 8th graders from seven counties around our area: Georgetown, Horry, Williamsburg, Florence, Dillon, Marlboro & Marion. Rural Transportation Program

NOTICE TO THE CITIZENS OF GEORGETOWN, HORRY, AND WILLIAMSBURG COUNTIES:

The Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments (WRCOG) is seeking comments on proposed amendments to the current WRCOG Rural Long Range Transportation Plan (RLRTP).  The amendments will establish the 2015 – 2019 Safety Performance Targets as recommended by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, in accordance with the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. All written comments received on or before March 6, 2019 will be considered.
